Beet The Flu!

Most people are interested in juicing for weight loss or rejuvenation through natures fuel. More and more people are turning to juicing at this time of year to either beat off the flu and colds or to stop getting one in the first place.

We have received a ton of mail on this subject of late asking us for good recipes to combat these lurgys.

There are heaps of recipes out there to alleviate the symptoms and here is one that we use during the winter. Like most of you, Angie and I have busy jobs so we just can’t afford to be sick. I do not want to use chemicals to fight the flu and would much rather use fruits, veggies and herbs.

Beet The Flu!
6-7 carrots
5 celery stalks
1 beet (washed and scrubbed)
1 lemon
3 garlic cloves
1 inch piece of ginger (or more if you can handle it.)
2 tablespoons of honey
250mg echinacea extract

OPTIONAL – 500mg goldenseal. Please do not use this if you are pregnant, check with your Doctor if you have heart conditions – if in doubt leave it out.

I have also added Cayenne Pepper to this in the past but its not for the faint hearted.

1. Push the carrots, beet, celery, lemon, garlic and ginger through your juicer.
2. Add the honey, goldenseal if using and echinacea to the juice and stir well.
3. Enjoy!

Juicing for weight loss

Did you know Angie and I are offering a 21 day online juicing course? This is what, Annette one of our students had to say about the course.

“My sister and I have been following your plan now for about three weeks, a little less.  I have to say I really like it.   It’s simple, easy and the juice recipes you provided are delicious.

This week we started cutting  down the on fruit and increasing the veggies and greens.   My sister is already a runner, but I went to the local ‘running’ store and bought some running shoes and signed up for the beginner running clinic.

I still don’t love running, but I’m losing weight and feeling great!  Thanks for the kick-start!!”

Angie and I did not like running at first, now we feel miserable if we are unable to get out there and run.
